What is Matomo
The goals of any web analytics tool are to optimize two things:
Matomo gives you an opensource set of web analytics tools to measure who comes to your website and what happens once they are there. If you are able to self host, the cost of core is free. Otherwise they can host for a price, on servers in Dublin and Frankfort.

You can inspect and contribute to Matomo's software. It is opensource. This transparency increases trust in their data privacy.
